THESIS - What is the line between originality and infringement of intellectual property?

My final question was created to understand why games are allowed to be similar though mechanics.

The reason being at the beginning of my research The battle Royale genre had just surfaced with PUBG being the “original” game with the founder of the genre, Brendan Greene. Other games slowly started to surface with the Battle Royale game mode including big successes like Fortnite. The information provided is useful to anyone who want to understand why video games can be very similar.

I have researched IP laws, mechanics, ethics and a brief look into open source technology , using the Battle Royale Genre as a case study along with an appendix explaining what a Battle Royale game consist of.
